Introducing CompareShares.com.au
CompareShares.com.au is a group of experienced finance journalists who think that Australians need a down-to-earth, uncensored and completely free resource on investing. Because we have no ties to any other company or association, we can give you the low-down without the sales pitch.
We won't charge you for anything on our site either. Any subscriptions to newsletters or fatter publications we produce will be entirely free.
CompareShares.com.au is Australia's first finance site to set up under the auspices of Web 2.0, or the second generation of the Internet. We don't believe in dishing out information without your input and feedback, so our Web 2.0 features include:
Message board for Your 2 Cents on articles and commentary.
You can act as editor of the site by suggesting future topics for our journalists and contributors.
The compareshares.com.au Provider of the Year will be based on your vote in the Audience Awards.
Our Wiki - Investorpedia - is a free online encyclopaedia on investing in Australia that's in your hands. You add and amend content on the site.
You can post questions to our resident expert Nick Renton AM, as well as asking our panel of industry experts on all things investing.
You can act as journalist by telling us your trading stories.
As finance journalists first and foremost, we support the Web 2.0 hallmarks of openness, trust, authenticity and collaboration.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower you, the investor. We strongly believe that anyone can and should take the reins to invest, but for lack of a roadmap, many shun the investing path or stick to the familiarity of lower-returning investments such as cash or property.
We figure that by giving you the lay of the land as far as we see it - and we've got oodles of investing experience amongst us - then you can use it as a guide to steer your own course. Why should finance geeks be the only ones in the game?
Take a look at our investing centres and for a glimpse at the universe. It's deep, but we endeavour to make it navigable.
Independence
CompareShares.com.au is an independent company with no affiliation whatsoever with any company listed on this site. What's more, CompareShares.com.au is privately owned by the journalists who run it - a resource put together by journalists, for investors and traders.
Providers pay us a small administration fee to have a link on our site - a percentage of this fee is donated to help combat climate change. An additional fee is charged if providers wish to be in the featured provider category. We also accept advertising on the site.
Charity Work
CompareShares.com.au donates a percentage of the administration fee to appear in the comparison tables to help combat climate change.
We also support the work of Opportunity International via free advertising on our site. Opportunity International provides microfinance - collateral-free loans and business training and support - to the working poor in developing countries. These loans and savings enable the poor to establish and grow small businesses - a more sustainable solution to poverty. Opportunity International believes that all people can improve their lives, if only given an opportunity. More information can be found at their website. |
